Common Running injuries

Running is an excellent cardiovascular exercise that has good effects on the body. Helps improve endurance and burn calories to maintain body so slender. It also increases the level of good cholesterol in the body and strengthen our immune system. However, the race is a high-impact sport and is not meant for everyone. Because of their high impact nature, may cause injury to your ankles, knees, hip and spine. To qualify for race and not run to take advantage of you, you have to be aware of common injuries due to race and how they caused in order to take the necessary precautions and not fall victim to them.

Runner’s knee

Syndrome of patellofemoral pain or otherwise commonly known as runner’s knee is caused by irritation of the knee cartilage at the kneecap. It contributes approximately 45% to the total injuries caused by running. As the duration and intensity of your current increases, the pain will intensify. It is usually caused by the use of shoes that are of inferior quality or not meant to run so that the supports are not sufficient. The also running surface issues and one irregular increases the risk. Insufficient recovery period between executions also contributes to the runner’s knee.

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis is the result of inflammation of the tissue in the bottom of the foot that connects the calcaneus with our tips. Runners who have tight Achilles tendons are at a higher risk of suffering from this injury. Wearing running shoes with poor support, long-distance runners and flat-footed runners also have an increased risk. Runners who suffer from Plantar Fasciitis will have weak feet and swollen and will have a hard time walking.

Shin Splints

Medial tibial stress syndrome or commonly known as shin splints result in sharp pain in the shin area due to inflammation of the tibia. It is normally caused by intense activities such as tennis and running. The pain occurs and goes off for activities like tennis and can even stay for all activity as a long-distance race and eventually will result in runner stop running because of excruciating pain. Running on uneven roads and improper shoes with insufficient support increases the risk of shin splints.

Above are 3 common running injuries. If you’ve noticed, all are caused by running on uneven surfaces with improper footwear that provides inadequate support for the foot. If you have problems, your best bet would be to run on a treadmill that provides a firm surface. If you want to run in a natural environment, invest some money in a good pair of shoes and your feet will thank you for it. After all, spending a hundred bucks on a good pair of running shoes is cheaper than having to spent thousands on your medical bills in the future.
